New Copy Card System
In October 2006, the HAM-TMC Library will install a new copy card system. To use the new system, library users will simply buy a card from vending machines in the Library for $1 and can then add value to the card in any amount. The vending machines will accept the new $5, $10, and $20 bills. Copiers will continue to accept cash. read more

Growing Electronic Collections, Canceling Print
The HAM-TMC Library's E-Journals A to Z list now links you to over 8,000 online journals specific to clinical medicine, nursing, biomedical science and other science and technology subject areas. Many of the Library's databases also offer full-text journals we do not list on our website. Access to many journals is made possible by our participation in multiple consortia that negotiate contracts for "bundles" of journals at favorable prices. In this way, the Library maximizes its buying power and – as an added benefit – can offer access to many journals in addition to the essential health sciences titles. read more

Electronic journals have become the preferred method for reading the biomedical literature over the past few years. The HAM-TMC Library has responded by providing access to this growing collection for its Educational Level users. In addition, the Library is now beginning to cancel print subscriptions to most of these journals. Canceling print saves physical processing time, frees up shelf space and in some cases, reduces costs. A report on the print journal cancellation project will be available on the Library's website in October, 2006.
