From the Director

Welcome to all students, staff, and faculty who are returning from vacation or entering as first timers! The Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library, http://www.library.tmc.edu/, is your library, with rich resources: 2500 journal subscriptions, 4,000 full-text electronic journals, information services, circulation and interlibrary loan and a staff of 69. This library is your entry into the world of health and medical information. Although much is available in print, electronic resources are numerous and available through our information management systems and links. Users can register to have their Interlibrary Loans sent to their desktops at http://lib200.library.tmc.edu/ILL/. Classes ranging from National Library of Medicine’s MEDLINE/PubMed, MEDLINEplus, NLM Gateway and Evidence-Based Medicine databases to HTML and PowerPoint classes are free and sign up is easy, .http://hhw.library.tmc.edu/lib200/classes/cart/. We can also tailor a class to your request---, just ask us.  Our computer laboratory and our workstations are available during library hours; we are open 99 hours a week, and you can find our catalog and electronic resources via our home page 24/7.

Do you have your library card?   Remote access registration, entry from anywhere, is automated; you do need your library card, available from the Circulation Desk. The HAM-TMC Library staff is here for you, let us hear from you and please visit us, and have a Starbucks coffee while doing your research! This issue of Library Lines inaugurates a new look plus it is now available electronically and archived. We hope you will read our current information regularly. Let us know if the information is helpful. Any and all suggestions are welcomed.
